From reports that were read online, what most surfers don’t like about riding huge waves is the towing. Needing a tow means needing to rent a tow or getting a buddy pull you out to the sea. WaveJet - a motorized surfboard for big waves

In order to surf those massive walls of salt water known as big waves, brave surfers usually need to get towed in by a personal watercraft (PWC). This presents some logistical problems (i.e. having to bring a buddy along to tow you around all day). WaveJet’s PWP Pod cuts the labor, speeding surfers to the swells at 8 to 12 mph for up to 60 minutes. The 15-pound propulsion system, which is powered by a twin-lithium battery pack, is now available in surfboards, bellyboards, rescue boards and stand-up paddleboards, and expect to see it integrated into other equipment in the near future. $4,500 (pod and surfboard)

Outside Magazine Features WaveJet
by Aaron Gulley

WaveJet Personal Water Propulsion Pod
It’s just a surfboard—with an engine. Just fire up the lithium-ion-powered twin-propulsion motor from the wireless wristband and WaveJet’s Personal Water Propulsion Pod (avaliable in three speeds on certain Walden surf-and-paddle boards) will push you along at up to nine knots, about five times faster than your arms can carry you. You’ll get from shore to break more easily (or, if you’re paddleboarding, cruise along more quickly). No promises on how fellow surfers will recieve your plug-in moxie.

WaveJet propels surfing into the present - MyDigitalLife.com

It might be winter in South Africa now, but by the time beach bum season rolls around again later this year, surfers the world over will have the option of empowering their boards.
Paddling out in order to catch a wave is like, so last season, dude. A Californian surfer named Mike Railey reckoned that all the time surfers usually waste on paddling out could be better spent surfing. He wanted a surfboard that would enable him to get out to the waves faster, which is how the WaveJet came to be.

The Wavejet Makes Surfing Easy - Incredible Things.com

You might not realize it, but surfing is an extremely physically demanding sport. Or at least it used to be before the Wavejet came along. Thanks to this motorized surfboard, instead of building up your leg muscles, you can just let the board catch up to those fast moving waves for you. This is great news – as surfers become weak and doughy, it’ll be much easier for the rest of us to meet women at the beach. It’s also good news if you’ve ever wanted to learn to surf – a motorized surfboard is sure to make the experience much easier.

Wavejet: Powered Surfboard Mixes Electricity and Water

by Charlie Sorrel
It seems like there is a conspiracy afoot. A conspiracy designed to turn even the sportiest of people into lazy lumps of lard. A conspiracy to put electric motors into every human-powered mode of transport.
Electric bikes for the frail or elderly I can understand, but an electric surfboard? Crazy. But that’s just what you get with the Wavejet, a “Personal Water Propulsion” engine which can be built into surfboards, kayaks or anything else that is both fun and that keeps you (until now) fit and trim.
The engine is powered by li-ion batteries and can produce 20 pounds of thrust for up to half an hour, after which you’ll have to plug it in to recharge. The idea of an electric surfboard, according to the blurb, is that you can catch faster-moving waves without being towed in. But surely the half-hour battery life would make that a rather short session?
And so the electrification of normally calorie-powered devices continues. Bikes, roller-skates, skateboards and now surfboards. What next? Electric dumbbells? Read this article online

by Michael Kwan
Thanks to my notoriously poor sense of balance, I’ve never been surfing. Even so, I imagine the part where you catch the wave is a lot more fun than the part where you have to paddle back out. Thanks to the WaveJet, that second part could become a thing of the past.

Sign me up for motorized surf

by Corky Carroll

But, being lazy and the fact that I have been getting tons of good surf lately, which has worn my old body out, I forgot. Yeah, I know. I gotta try harder to remember to do stuff that I mean to do but forget.
